/env border
even though the default border is water, I cant make lava! Lava borders are my suggestion

Isn't lava animated, so wouldn't it lag the crap out of everything

Use: BlockEdgeTextures[Block.Lava] = "577d5d6ebf094f3dd075becb85a3721cf7aec6ec";
Basically, you can create your own edge.environment .png (if the dimensions are a power of 2) and upload it to http://files.worldofminecraft.com/upload.php, then it gives you the file hash code for your uploaded file.
At the moment, I can't think of how to emulate air...
Unless you already knew about this but wanted the lava to be animated?
