Command that marks players to keep an eye on.

Post by Hellenion »

This might have been suggested and rejected before, but I was not able to find it with the search button.

I have been asked several times to suggest a command that'll inform the staff of dangerous players, but I thought to recall something similar had been requested. Since, I have been provided with good arguments for having such a feature.

The proposed command, which I will call /watch, marks a player and appends a colored star to its classyname. This will draw the moderators' focus towards the marked player. The star is preserved between play sessions, akin freeze and ban. There will also be a command to remove the star. Not necessary, but useful, would be to store a message in the the players /info, to make clear why the player needs focus.

This command may be used to make sure dangerous players are noticed by staff that joins later on, and the other staff has just left. fCraft freebuild might have certain policies on this, but on a lot of servers the staff likes to give warnings first, this is a way of making such a warning more persistent and more clear. The servers staff may also choose to use this command for other things, having a general way of marking players that meet certain specifications is a versatile addition to the software. It will improve communication between staff members and also provides a solution for the so often-requested ability to add a custom message to a players info.
A = {x ∈ P(U) | x ∉ x}
Mods:
  1. /Su - Allows players to temporarily become a different rank
  2. /Snap - Like /Line but only draws straight or diagonal lines.
  3. pre-0.630 skip/none block

hmm, Don't know if like. It could become more of a badge of honour.

Perhaps if only players that could read staff chat could see the star. Otherwise other players would be curious and want the cool looking star.
"Excuse me, have you got a spare $10?".... Yeah I do. So would you if you had a job.

Good idea, but only people with a specified permission should be able to mark a player, and view a player's mark.

Maybe it's some reason for so many to suggest it...

I agree, it would be usefull for other ops/mods to see what players are 'warned' allready.

But... its still fragmer who build the prio lists, and does the actual work.

So we just have to wait till he has time to build this, if he even thinks this should be in his software.
