I've seen this on beta servers, not for the same reason but it works like this:

Say you type /rise 30, it will take you up vertically 30 blocks and place a glass block under your feet.

I think this will be useful for when /copy-/cut'ing things, so you no longer need to make an obnoxious pillar.

You can just fly to where you want it with wom and create a single block cuboid using /mark.

He is recommending this to prevent that. He wants a shortcut rather than having to do a /measure and find exactly where he needs to be.

Also not everyone uses the WoM client.

I like the idea. It would require another command name, though.

Everyone should! I cant say I like this idea much. Also it's hard to be precise (e.g. "30 blocks exactly"), it'll always be +/- 1 block.
