What is Tribes: Ascend?
Tribes: Ascend is a Free to Play Sci-Fi First Person Shooter made by the people who brought you Global Agenda. At its core it is an incredibly fast-paced capture-the-flag game, (although there are Arena, Team Deathmatch, and Capture & Hold gametypes) with vehicles, projectile weapons, and most importantly: jetpacks. It's a game where most of the fighting takes place mid-air, "twitch" shooting is virtually non-existent, and movement speed / positioning is just as important as aiming ability. There are many parallels that can be drawn between it and UT2k3 as well as the Halo franchise, but it is honestly a completely unique game and the parallels that can be drawn to other games are quite superficial.

I've downloaded and started playing, its a very nice game and for free you cant go wrong. Reminds me of quake III and Counter-Strike:Source Surf maps.

Get this game, it's amazing

Played this (and Global Agenda too) since early alpha. Well worth playing. (also, having Hi-Rez Studios a few miles from me means I get to do in-house testing so much fun)

I still won't be playing this game since the whole jetpack/non-hitscan weapon affair doesn't quite appeal to me. Until Tribes was resurrected in this fashion Section 8 and Section 8 Prejudice semi-filled this spot and while they were very polished and balanced and interesting games from a multiplayer perspective sometimes the whole thing doesn't "flow" with my taste. :-P
