[DONE] Heartbeat saver?

Post by LiamRayStanley »

i was just wondering if fCraft Freebuild, had their own type of heartbeat saver.
i was wondering this because we have dropped down the list a couple times.
also is their any way to run a heartbeat saver from another pc to keep a server running on the list from another pc?
would they have to have the same IP, so i would have to use static IP's?

800craft offers a feature like this, but I don't think they'll share the code ;)

I've written a heartbeat saver for fCraft ages ago, but I do not distribute it.

Yes we are. It does nothing though since the weakest link in MC.net's shitty list is the list itself, which drops uptimes as it pleases and then re-orders them in a random fashion also sometimes "choosing" to keep the uptimes of some servers while not other. What a piece of shit.

I cannot agree more with Lim, and I've heard about fragmer's infamous heartbeat sender :P

My HeartbeatSaver was written very simply, and like the server itself, cannot guarantee anything due to minecraft.net.
Like all of 800Craft, its open source and although its incompatible with fCraft, ill happily make it a plugin for fCraft 0.7x

But if everyone has a heartbeat saver, it defeats the purpose of it :P

And if mollstam didn't change the way minecraft.net worked then we wouldn't need to make heartbeat savers :P

We used the heartbeat saver even before Mollstam fucked up the server list. And the heartbeat savers do serve a purpose even when everybody uses them since that way you don't get fucked in the ass twice - once when you need to e.g. update your server and a second time when MC.net's shit-list decides to reset itself. ;-)

Someone who's good with web programming should re-write the classic list quickly, fix the bugs and send it to mollstam. Since no one at mojang seems to care about classic enough to do it themselves.

Uuuuuuhm... Don't bring this one up. fragmer and TkTech did EXACTLY THAT. They had a wonderful, fully functional server list ordered by Mojang but they rejected it because it wasn't written in Java...

That wouldn't help :P

Anyway, isn't it possible to write that server list in Java? :P

Do mojang still want a new server list written in Java?

Why not make one, and suggest it?
Why should they say no?
It can't be much worse :S

Forgot to update this topic -- fCraft 0.632 and later include a HeartbeatSaver utility.
