Hello!

Adding new blocks to Minecraft Classic is something everyone wanted for years, and now it's actually possible, thanks to project ClassiCube, custom servers/clients, and Classic Protocol Extensions.

So -- which block types (either from SMP/CMP or completely original ones) would you like to see added? Please let us know!

For example, here are a couple blocks I would like to see added -- tile and magma block.



I made the textures for them already. Of course, you don't actually have to make a texture to make a suggestion -- having a good idea is enough.

Pink leaves / cherry blossoms

Black / imperial bricks

Magma

Multi-colored tiles, if possible, since we're all choosy on bathrooms

Grill - cross metal sheets. Something like pattern (underside) but is black and iron-ish

Nuts and Bolts. A slab-block but has that division in the middle, or possibly a philips screw.

Varied water colors. You don't put clean, blue water in swamps, and some people would like blood.

Bronze. Lighter than log, darker than gold, shinier than wood.

Clear glass

Last and the least, fence blocks / furniture blocks

In classic,

Different styles of log? Like CMP

Sandstone maybe? Used a lot in CMP and would be handy in classic

I very much so like the idea of bronze

Basalt Bricks and cobble from tekkit.

A maroon block as like netherbrick.

I'd love to see a greyish brick style like the brick already there, but with varying sizes.

Brown wool is an absolute must! I have always hated using some form of wood for my creations that are unfortunate to have brown eyes.

What sort of limits are there for this configuration?

It might be cool to have a sub-menu, where you right click a wool block (red for example) and 3 or 4 options/shades pop up.

If you guys are thinking about the redstone related stuff like pistons, dispensers etc, then they won't be added. I met the creator AndrewPH, he says that it is too hard and a ton of work, so its an actually 'no' for the redstone stuff.

This fella speaks the truth: Redstone is very difficult to implement. We'd have to rewrite large chunks of the client (and fragmer here would have to rewrite huge chunks of fcraft to support it) and overall it wouldn't be worth it.

That sort of thing will most likely not be possible without having a ton of blocks (way more than we want) or rewriting chunks of the block handling code to add metadata (something fragmer has made quite clear he does not want to do with fcraft)

And finally, anything involving shapes other than what's already in Minecraft would require a lot of rewriting of the renderer and the physics, so for the time being, they're a 'no', sadly. I would love fenceposts myself, but non-block models are more trouble than they're worth.

The selection of reds in Classic is pretty embarrassing. Something maroon that doesn't have TNT scrawled on it would be nice.

I was thinking perhaps something modeled after SMP's Nether Brick:

Maybe doors/Ladders/Torches/More tiles/More bricks/Snow/Pole

What about electronics like a Television just as a deco block, much guests make a television in their first home.

The ability to place halfstep in the upper half + half blocks of everything

Thanks to everyone who submitted survey responses! We've selected 15 blocks (out of ~100 responses) for the first batch:

• Cobble slab
• Rope
• Smooth sandstone
• Snow
• Fire (animated)
• Light-pink wool
• Forest-green wool
• Brown wool
• Deep-blue wool
• Turquoise wool
• Ice
• Ceramic tile
• Magma
• Pillar
• Crate
• Stone brick

More blocks will definitely be added, in batches, in the future. We're trying to be selective now, to avoid using up all space on the "B" menu

Jonty800 and I just finished implementing and testing these custom blocks about an hour ago. FemtoCraft server and ClassiCube client will be the first two pieces of software to support custom blocks, starting tomorrow. fCraft and 800Craft support is coming a bit later. Charged-Miners and xWoM support could happen (depends on those clients' developers). A bunch of other extensions are in the worlds as well.
