Both are indeed still working, freebuild is best played using the ClassiCube client. The survival server is 1.8.x and the address is SMP.fCraft.net

Also likely to find people on IRC too. EsperNet -> #fCraft.SMP and #fCraft.server, are the survival and freebuild channels.
