I have recently started a town on a tropical island that I have named Saburra. It is a work in progress, and it is only about 40% done right now. I figured I would make this to let you know it exists, and to help me stay on track building! So, basically, the buildings are made of jungle log and sand...

I too seem to be having this problem. Either way, first of all can you connect to other servers? I cannot connect to any servers, I tried at least 6. I have also been having problems with wom, but that is a different story. I tried to access through Minecraft.net, and then was faced with this proble...

Looks like you have some good potential for awesome builds.

If you want to get better, it just takes practice. Try building bigger things, but always put lots of detail in it! Pay attention to the small stuff.

You have some nice detail on some of your builds. But I think, Just as Xes said, they could be a bit larger and more complex.

Don't worry about taking up large portions of the map for a large/complex build, that is what they are for! Admins can always load more.

What if masons could help with the "second opinion" aspect in the promotion of builders? Few things here, I believe masons should be able to supply an opinion in the promotion process of builders. This could work out great considering we have no "system" for a builder promotion, ...
