I haven't been here for a while but I am trying to share this as much as humanly possible. Do your part too.

Kony? Why not Pony?

EDIT: I posted this prior to checking the video, and assumed that someone named "Kony" is running for president in 2012 (e.g. "Obama 2012"). My apologies for an irrelevant comment.

I still approve of the pic fragmer. Well done.

Anyhow, I think this is going to be a meme in about a week that we will all hear repeated about 20 times. In the meantime, I'll just state my approval for the global attention paid to the apprehending of a semi-dictator and hope he is dropped in an ocean or whatever it is we do with them these days. I can't keep track of how we handle world criminals anymore.

I'd recommend everyone to also check some non-dramatized factual information before/after watching the video. Actually you can just skip the video, and read the Wikipedia page. Save yourself 30 minutes. The video is unnecessarily long, dramatic/corny, and short on actual content.

I don't get the "do my part" thing. Should I apprehend him when I spot him at the local club?

This guy has been hunted since 2008. People are just jumping on America's next human right violator hate-bandwagon.

Am I the only person who heard of him "before he was cool"?

If you want to put your money to good charitable use, I'd recommend someone like Amnesty International or Doctors Without Borders. They have a much better track record than Invisible Children Inc

kattoo hit the nail on the head.

The "charity" that released this and is running this campaign is a film company. The affected communities aren't seeing a penny. The American-advised army is getting most of the funding of the 31% that Invisible Children send.

I really hope that for any good to come out of this, regulation boards scrutinise the shit out of this company.

Nono you guys are stupid. Dave made it pretty clear to me last night that my government has the power and that they need to be made aware cause they apparantly never heard of the guy even though the international criminal court is located in The Hague.

Let's all join the hipster brigade guys. I wonder how many Russians and Chinese will approve of yet another American interventionary force in a small third world nation.

This spread here? Damn. I had hope.

The massive outcry is actually kinda sad. Bunch of hipsters indeed.

Also, Kattoo is probably a redditor.

Heard about this video yesterday... As noble a cause as it is, I feel that the US has its own problems cut out before it already.

So let me see if I've got this straight...Jason Russell, the founder of a pretty big charity that recently exploded in popularity, the father of a 5 year old child, and a fairly successful propaganda artist, was caught drunk, high, and running around naked, vandalizing, screaming and freaking out, and publicly masturbating. You know...I had hope that the Kony 2012 meme would shut down pretty soon, but to have it end like this was more than I could have ever hoped for. Now then, let's go back to the last bandwagon we were all a part of and wait for a new one. Stop ACTA anyone?

Actually, from what I've read, it was dehydration, malnutrition, and sleep deprivation + high stress rather than being high, but the result is the same. The cops actually had him carted off to a hospital rather than jail.

I tried to keep away from this thread but now I decided to say/share some stuff...
Since they killed Osama there’s been a hole in there stomach, now they desperately need a new dark-skinned Disney villain so they can justify defense budgets of trillions in a never ending quest to kill him. Kony is a perfect gift for them he looks like a "bad guy" and he "hurts children".
They used to have to wait for terrorist attacks or to do some on there own just to justify "interventions" and get some oil and minerals, now, thanks to viral videos like this one they can “send advisors” to lynch the "bad guys".

If you are not sure about something, about some information... look from different angles, news, blogs, wiki's, radio any other sources... Hell even youtube it if you don't want to read stuff.

The American people are employees whose taxes fund the wars and schemes that there government make. Their kids become troops they send overseas, in return for mega malls and the American dream.

Do my part too? No. You do your own research.

EDIT: So many grammatical and spelling errors.

To be honest I don't believe in the conspiracy theory that this is just an attempt at justifying military action in Africa by the US. I don't believe this is an honest and relevant attempt at solving problems in Africa either, though.

All in all I believe that this whole campaign is causing more controversy on the Internet and in the media than the impact it will have on real-world politics. It's just the "topic du jour" and will fade into obscurity quite quickly.
