Desktop problems now with pics

Post by 49ERS »

Hello __49ERS__ here I need help on my computer because I'm a noob. Well my computer shuts off randomly I've looked into the computer and both hard drives are full of memory and my disk drive is broken. And yes it sounds like the most shitiest computer ever but it's all I have so ya. It's a HP Pavilion the old kind. I've also cleaned it out recently so I know it doesn't over heat. And the computer geeks say it might not be the memory and It might be the virus it has

Anyways please reply soon and thanks

Is there any more information you can give us?

Also, no need to sign your name at the end of your post considering we know who it is.

First thought, overheating. But you made sure that wasnt the case.

Maybe its faulty memory?

You can check that with http://www.memtest86.com/ or any other mem-test-iso.

Sometimes reinstalling windows does wonders.

Considering (I think this is the one you got USED) it's always safe to format/wipe the OS. Viruses are nasty, and that is quite an easy way to do it. You said you cleaned it out, but that doesn't mean you cleaned it out right. I have a dell that I cleaned out thinking that when it randomly shut off, it was overheating. I cleaned it at least three times, and I had done A LOT of researching. Turns out it was a tiny little it-bity bundle of dust, that nor me, or a air-can found. Broken disk drive? Heh, it is shitty. Seriously though, after having a lot of broken computers given to me, and not knowing what the person before me did with it, its safe to format/wipe. You could invest in Windows 7, or something free like XP. (XP is still a popular operating system).

Those are just my thoughts anyway.

Those "beeps" when turning on are a signal that something is wrong. Usually the number of beeps tells you what it is. It could be anything from a lack of an OS, to an issue with your RAM being corrupt.

i agree that ram dose make beeps when there eather dead or not connected properly.

Award BIOS Beep Codes
One short beep when displaying logo: No error during POST
Long beeps in an endless loop: No DRAM installed or detected
One long beep followed by three short beeps: Video card not found or video card memory bad
High frequency beeps when system is working: CPU overheated System running at a lower frequency
The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.
