fCraft.net welcomes King Arthur's Gold!

Post by Lim-Dul »

Hello guys!

We are pleased to announce that we have now set up a King Arthur's Gold server!

If you want to know more about the game, please visit its official site:

http://kag2d.com/

Or watch this trailer:

Download it from the official site and create an account!
You can find our server in the in-game server browser under fCraft.net Official.
We highly encourage you to join the server in teams and hang around on Mumble for maximum gameplay fun.

The game is free to play for now but you can buy a premium account that will give you additional features in the future as well!
It's only $10 and part of Desura's alphafunding program - definitely give it a shot:

http://www.desura.com/games/king-arthurs-gold

P.S. A forum section was created to discuss the game. There are new builds with new features almost every day, so there's a lot to talk about.

Ah gorramit Lim, you just bankrupted me. I recognize it's theoretically free, but for some reason I felt compelled to buy it.

EDIT: And they're behind on the keys, so I have to wait to play unless I get the free one. Blargh.

The only thing the paid version does now is let you join the empty gold servers. The client is the same for both versions anyway.

Yeah, I know gold doesn't do much, but the real pain is that I can't launch it through Desura.

You don't need to - the gold account is global and you can use it wherever.

This game seems to have a high learning curve combat wise, esp with the knights. When I first started playing I had a 1:20 kdr!

High learning curve is nothing compared to KAG. KAG is basically "Newbies volunteer to pad the KDR of veterans".

I probably played for a damn hour before I figured out the hold-to-charge attack mechanic on the knight  The tutorial is damn useless. The game is addicting though!

Do a full charge up and then immediately afterwards, hold it down long enough for 2 little dot things. You'll do a double slash.

I. love. KAG.
There is only one bad part about it: Griefers.
If you think griefers in minecraft are annoying you are so damn wrong.
in mincraft you can delete blocks and the other blocks wont be affected.
In KAG there is a little annoying thing called GRAVITY.
So everytime I build a bridge to the enemy spawn, when halfway, just before or just past halfway the map someone on my team thinks its funny to destroy the 4 block thick support pillars...
But the satisfaction you get when you're epic across the map bridge actually is the thing that gives your team victory because the combat is stuck at a stalemate you feel damn epic.
Overall I love it but the griefers get on my nerf, which is the only bad thing about the fCraft server, there is never someone online with special priveleges that can one-hit-knock-out-and-kick.

What did you build the bridge supports out of? They could have been trying to get past. Also, remember that cross-map-bridges aren't really reminiscent of true medieval warfare, and while it's not acceptable to grief them they're certainly gonna be targets. Are you even 100% sure it was a team mate and not an enemy?

Im pretty sure it was friends becasue the enemy couldn't reach it, the bridge was 5 blocks above the ground where there was a power struggle so every now and then the team in control of the area under the bridge switched, so there was hardly any time for a builder to come and build his own bridge on top of mine (mine was made out of those bridges which turn to make enemies on top of them fall).
I know it was a team mate because there was a power struggle on the middle of the map (medium map) while the bridge started collapsing at it's base pillar which was on the far right side of the map (my team's area).
About the support pillars: Some were 1 block thick stone pillars, other's were 4 blocks thick and the main one next to our spawn was BLLB where B is stone Block and L is ladder with background wall, the bridge itself was made of a layer of the previously mentioned bridge block, then 2 layers of background wall and then another layer of the bridge block right above your head to protect you from enemy snipers.
This all happened in the fCraft server...

Must resist! Can't! Temptation to download too strong! But why do I want to play this rather than Terraria?

Because KAG is combat-oriented with building being a bonus, not the focus of the game, so they are two completely different titles?

Also, KAG is free (for now).

We established that Sanjars "services" are freemium. Not so sure about the game though

On topic: I've once been faced with this real bad griefer who bought every structure we made on top of our heads and just sat above us dropping stone bricks on our heads, utterly raping our kill:death ratio. Lack of moderator presence was an issue... But so were the idiot teammates who had no idea how to press tab and tick the box next to this persons name.

If you press tab there are boxes behind your team members names, if enough people tick those boxes that person is kicked.
Once again: Behind YOUR TEAM members' name.
Haven't played a lot on the fCraft servers as it's A) Empty (5-) or B) Full.
I have been playing those 32 man small maps servers.
Since I now play WITH mouse I can actually use offensive classses :D
