Community Project: Art déco; worldname: art_deco

In this thread you can follow the develop of the art déco community project.
The goal is to capture the architectural zeitgeist of the 20s - 40s of the 20th century with a strong focus on art déco buildings - mighty skyscrapers, like the chrysler building (above) in the city centre and some "smaller" builds in the outskirts, like the Eden building below.

Contributors and Claimed Builds

If you want to join us
and have a mason+ rankjust claim and start building. If you're interested but aren't mason+ yet, you can claim an art deco building and get the result reviewed here or ingame. Every builder, able to keep the quality of the world high is welcome. :)
To get a feeling for the architectural style I recommend to browse through this forumthread on skyscrapercity.com.
If that's not enough, here's another one.

In order to mix it up a little we could add some buildings of similar architectural styles:
eg brick expressionism:

or gotham sience fiction:

Alot of people have problems loading large worlds.
If your client crashes you might have to allocate more memory to minecraft.
Using an older version of the WoM Client (1.6) helps alot of people too.

Sounds good, but as far as I remember I've never seen any of your builds. I suggest that you just claim a build you're interested in and start doing what minecraft is all about. When you're finished we can copy paste it to the artdeco world and you become and official member of the project.

You know what they say, "If you can load the project map, then it ain't big enough". Amazing work so far.

This is by-far my favorite world project I've ever seen,
it's too bad I can't build because I'm dying to get in on it.

Best of luck to you guys, I can't wait to see it all come together!

Thank you! :)
regarding your join problem, it might help to load a small world (like ollie lag) before joining the art_deco world. This prevents crashes for some people (including myself) when using the WoM 1.9 client.

Ollielag has a new residency in it, courtesy of Bloody_Llama. Why would anyone want to ever leave?

Oh, I meant I couldn't join in because I'm not the greatest builder :P
I'm not that bad though, I may try to find something small to add to the project.

Heh, nice work. I saw the world so far the other day, and its epic. Perhaps I will make something for it.

feel free to cut the "might" and "perhaps"! ;)

Currently I can't play alot of minecraft. If anyone needs to contact me: the most efficient way would be a querry via IRC.

If noone created a backup of the world I think this project can be cancelled - at least I'm not interested to build the same stuff again.
