Concerning /patrol...
Concerning /patrol...
From what I understand about /patrol, it uses an algorithm to determine who you teleport to. Based on my experiences with it, I usually wind up teleporting to players who are just building rather than players griefing or doing anything else stupid. So my suggestion for it to be more effecient would be to have it analyze guest's info over the past minute, and if a player manually deletes a lot of blocks in that minute, put him at the top of the /patrol list. That may be a hassle (I'm not really familiar with programming or anything along those lines) but this was just an idea that popped into my head.

Re: Concerning /patrol...
The algorithm is pretty simple - you are patrolling players that you haven't patrolled yet. =)
I think tracking people's stats like that would be resource-heavy unless BlockDB was involved (and then it would be intensive still), but I'm not an expert. :-P

Oh haha that's a lot simpler then what I imagined at first.
Well I can see it getting intense, especially when we are at max capacity on the server, but unless you're using /patrol every 10 seconds on a different person, it really boils down to chance when it comes to moderating.

I tend to use /patrol about once a second when I'm patrolling. That's all it takes to be able to identify is somebody is griefing or acting suspicious.xN8Gx wrote:Oh haha that's a lot simpler then what I imagined at first.

Re: Concerning /patrol...
I tend to use /patrol (and afterthat / ) alot.
But, i have my own list of people who i rate as suspect.
That list consist of:
- People with kicks on his or his alts.
- People i found with /bi on a grief and are still online.
- People i warned.
- People with flyhacks that are not building.
Depending on the scale of this list /patrol is getting used, less if the list is bigger ofc.
With a full server, i hardly use the list becouse i have many suspects.
With a 'empty' server, i hardly use anything els, becouse i have almost no suspects.

Re: Concerning /patrol...
I do remember when around 5 people were patrolling each other (e.g. Hit patrolling Smokey, Smokey patrolling Ferg, Ferg patrolling... yadda yadda) so it was like a patrolling train, and was perhaps the funniest thing I have ever seen on Minecraft. It was just the fact they were going to random guests who then freaked out. Good times...
