cdferg, It wouldn't hurt I guess.
Also Pelvic I really don't think we can condone THAT much valuable stuff going into the map from the get-go, regardless of if it will or won't be sold (especially because we know you were obtaining them using x-ray).
M1_Abrams, the chest is purely for the real thing. The temp map will be everyone starting from scratch.

M1_Abrams wrote:So a quick question about the chests.
Are we going to:
a. get the chest copied into the temp map and the real thing?
b. get the chest copied into the real thing only?
c. get the chest copied into the temp and then have another copying to the real thing?
Option b
edit: Ollieboy's post wasn't up when I typed this out.

It's even funnier because it will be banned.

What's really funny is that i didn't use it to get tons of diamonds.
The original reason that i got x-ray is to catch that raider that stole from our chests back when lwc was disabled. it was a success, and we were able to redistribute the stolen items accordingly.
after that, i never really used it, if at all.
Besides, if you really wanted to block it, there's a convenient
Anti-Xray module from Bukkit.
At least now I know that i was one of the few that was playing legitly. >.> No wonder u guys got so many resources.

I used x_ray for five minutes total. All I found with it was mossey cobble , which I didn't even keep. I obtained all my stuff legit. Yes most of the diamonds I bought. The past week ive found i'd say 200 blocks of iron, without the use of x-ray. I would really like if we could work something out. If you can't condone that much, then do you know the amount you could transfer over? Maybe I could make the build on the current map quickly before we go to the new map?
thanks for reading,
pelvic

Well I don't even know what X-Ray is so I don't use that

Is using x-ray just as bad as trustees spawning items for people? Or spawning them to sell on the market?
(Not saying they are, Matter of fact, I don't even know.)

For those who don't know what xray is capable of, look
here. It's also configurable, so you can have it search only for certain types of blocks.
If anything, that raider probably used it to find all of our chests. too bad i used it to find his.
Is there a set limit to how much diamonds, iron, etc. that we can bring, or is it just to not overdo it? (eg. Fill the entire chest with diamond blocks)

We're discussing that

As Sanjar previously said, we're actively discussing the in-evitable block limits that we're gonna put in order. Below you'll see the block limit(s) we've planned:
2 stacks of iron blocks. (1152 iron)
1 stack of gold blocks. (576 gold)
1/2 stack of diamonds blocks. (288 diamonds)
Updated.

That does happen. Trustees don't spawn items for people (unless they are helping them, like I spawned things for Xesdra while he helped me build the quest, for example) and trustees are WELL aware of the fact that selling spawned items just breaks the economy that we are trying to create.

The map will drop as soon as 1.8 comes out. We will then have a temporary map for two weeks to test out some new features and have our giggles. I suggest creating your chests as soon as possible.

Yes, yes it does, we are discussing it at this current moment...
And Indiiee, noone will know until a proper release date is given. New speculation says sometime in the first week of September now.

Which would suggest it'll come out in 6-9 weeks, and require another 3 weeks to work out all the major bugs.

Alrighty we want to get this show on the road.
Due to the uncertainty of the release date, we can overwrite copied chests. That is to say you can add things to your chest after we copy it, but remember that the previous chest contents will NOT be saved, because the file will be overwritten.
If you want your chest copied and no trustees or owners are online, post coordinates of the chest (type /getpos) and we will copy it when we are next available.
However, because we don't want to be annoyed, please don't get your chest copied, then put other diamond in 2 hours later and ask us to copy it again.
For those still unaware, we are allowing one single chest to be copied across to the new map from this one. There are some limits on what can be taken. Maximum of 1/2 stack of diamond blocks, 1 stack of gold blocks and 2 stacks of iron blocks. Also 4 stacks of obsidian maybe? Don't farm obsidian...
Remember this is for YOUR benefit and not ours, so please don't try to abuse this system or your chest will be denied. Thanks!

Make sure that your chest has a free space directly south of it.

one stack of diamonds or a half stack of diamonds?
either way this limits seems to be very high compared to the other ones.

The most recent values quoted by a trustee+ are the current ones.

Corrected my post, it was suppose to be 1/2 a stack.

As to the chest copying wutever thingy chingy:
Bukkit has this wonderful plugin, Will it be useful to us, Idk. You tell me.
(Pssst, It's MySQL. I know how much Hafnium likes that.)

Probably not considering that would mean carrying around all your stuff until 1.8 comes out. Then there is no guarantee of that plugin being updated accordingly. The same COULD be said about WorldEdit, but that is more likely to come back. .schematic files hold all the chest data anyway.

No, hafnium loves SQL. Hafnium hates permissions because he wants to use SQL but permissions' SQL system is horribly broken. SQL itself is fantastic.
