A square rotated 45 degrees. /diamond and you cuboid the area. For 3d version, make a 3d diamond like a rotated cube on it's corner.

Why not /pony, a pony rotated 39 degrees

I must say this is a very good idea, but you didn't phrase it very well...
For 2d, instead of
:cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:
:cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:
:cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:
you would get
:glass: :cobblestone: :glass:
:cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:
:glass: :cobblestone: :glass:
Like its tilted.

Not like an actual diamond, just a diamond-like shape.

You could just make a square and then look at it from a different angle? :/

And maby for a 3D cuboid you get a cuboid rotated on its axis? like Standing on one of its vertices?

Yeah that's what i meant if i wasnt that clear :P like a pyramid but sides together to make a cube on its verticy or whatever you call it xD but the problem is, what if it was an even number of blocks high? the center would have to be the same layer like:

:glass: :glass: :gold: :glass: :glass:
:glass: :gold: :gold: :gold: :glass:
:gold: :gold: :gold: :gold: :gold: <--
:gold: :gold: :gold: :gold: :gold: <-- Those are the same. Even # in height

Are you actually thinking about an Octahedron or a rotated Cube?

Yes like an octahedron. Wasn't sure of the name.

Isn't that shape rather specific, just like torus

I'd rather it be a rotated cube... to be honest
