DisplayedName(s)

Changing people's names can sometimes cause confusion, such as xxnightmare --> %1Night%4Mare

Now, if they misbehave and you type /mute nightmare, that is not possible, and then you forgot what their original name was in the first place.

Can I suggest a change to /info that shows Nightmare(xxnightmare) and/or the ability to freeze, mute ect the DisplayedNames?

Hope you're having a nice week off!

I would concur but:

What if 2 players have the same name? which player should get muted?

Disallowing registered names isn't feasible as at any point a player with your chosen displayedname could log in.

I think displayedname wasn't intended to change your entire name with, it is best used for custom colors and minor changes. If at any point you change an entire name you are bound to spread confusion anyway, so use that only where that wouldn't cause any problems.

Ah, very good point.

Nevermind!

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have an actual name variable type thing involved, or to have it sort through them, but as Hellion pointed out, it isn't necessary.

maybe /players could use ClassyName(Name), but only for players who have had a name change.

But as Hellion pointed out, it isn't necessary. :P

Anything that's not a crash "is necessary", that shouldn't stop you from trying to improve it.

Could you explain what you mean by that?

I will add .Name to /info for players who have .DisplayedName set. I might also add a command to search for players by displayedname, with colorcodes and special characters stripped, or something like that.

You left off the actual in that. "Actual name variable type thing", referred to adding their actual name in someplace to their info, or anywhere else that might help clarify.
