Don't mind this appearing to completely random, it is and it isn't.

If you were to play an pseudo futuristic, RTS with power plants which would you expect to be included in the game?

**EDIT**

Oops included Nuclear, Fusion, and Fission... removed nuclear.

Bear in mind that solar power plants should be divided into photovoltaic and concentrated, the latter being a lot cheaper and efficient.

I'd also add wave power, as it's becoming more efficient and prevalent :)

Maybe the one that's most destructive (not sure which), that explodes on destruction or something, putting emphasis on protecting your base.

I picked geo-thermal and solar, because Im in an anno 2070 green mood and because those two are hardly ever used in games.

Pure matter to energy conversion. you chuck a handful of dirt into the reactor and you have enough power to last you a year. =D

You could make them gravimetric field displacement manifolds. Reactants should be deuterium and anti-deuterium. Regulate the reaction with di-lithium crystals?

Fusion. It isn't that far-fetched when it comes to the immediate future.

Solar, Wind and Hydro are shit. All of them have diminishing returns since there are only that many places you can "farm" the energy and have quite terrible efficiency. Not a solution for the rising energy needs of the world.

Geothermal also offer diminishing returns after good locations are used up.

Hydrogen-Cell power plants? Well, you first need to produce hydrogen cells and the last time I checked this process actually takes up more energy than is gained from the cells so while the cells might be good as fuel, they are not a good source of net energy gain.

The future is Fusion, if more research is done. Sadly retard politicians are very reluctant to give funding to big Fusion-centered research projects since they claim we don't know if it's feasible (well, we WON'T know if we don't try, right?) and they confuse Fusion with Fission.

Fusion power plants would be extremely safe since the fusion process would stop automatically if a malfunction would occur and all the radioactive waste would have pretty short half-life.

Yes, it we aren't there yet but as a guy who has been brought up around a particle accelerator for around 7 years, I have a major hard-on for the ITER project. :3

P.S. Yes, I know this is a rant while the short answer would be "Fusion" but I wanted to provide arguments for my choice. :-P

No all the discussion is great, and you bring up an excellent point. As the topic was "slightly futuristic", advancements would be expected.

I think Lim indeed missed the 'Future' aspect of all this.

Hey, Fusion power is coming in like 20 years at the very least, if at all. The pseudo-futuristic setting made me think it should be "slightly" futuristic. :-P

Exactly. We'd have to bombard the dilithium with radiation to keep it from reacting with the anti-deuterium, but that is doable.
