When ranking players i have to type /rank (full playername) (rank) instead of being able to use only partial names like you can with /tp, /summon, etc. It would make it alot easier if you could just type the first few letters of the player name.

You mean that the /Rank command should auto-complete usernames?
It would've been quite a good addition, it bothers me as well sometimes...

Exactly. It gets to be a pain in the but typing in complete player names sometimes

If this kind of thing would be implemented, I would hope that for shortcuts, it only uses online players. But yeah, wouldn't be a bad idea. Just make damn sure that the letters you choose match the person if there's more than one person with a similar name.

No need to be damn sure, if it just prints matches instead of ranking.

Imo, changing of rank ought to be as precise as possible. I see typing the whole name as assurance of ranking exactly who you wanted to rank. I can think of a couple areas where this shortcut could cause a problem, and rank the wrong person. You could always teleport to them and use - for a mega shortcut.

I'm not, it just gets hard to try and keep players with really long names in front of you so you can read it as you type it out haha

Well autocomplete is not very practical. However you can use promote in conjunction with "-" to repeat the last used name. I suggest muting the person for 1 second, then typing /promote - owner [reason]

/Rank is the only command that does not autocomplete names, for a good reason: To allow adding players to the database who have never logged in (for players with EditPlayerDB permission). This in turn allows importing ranks/bans.

Isn't it possible to make it so the shortcut is only usable when ranking online players?
In that way you can still promote people never seen before...

...or you could just type out the name, or use Intertoothh's suggestion.
