HTML -> Markup code.
javascript -> Scripting code.

They are 'real' languages.

But i think your referring to programming languages like c#, cobal etc.
Still javascript is a nice place to start to learn programming.

But i allwase sugest to people to start with basic C. (no fansy C# or C+)

I started by reading your code :P

And also, I started officially on C at University, I thought the language was horrible, and the next term I started on Java and got such better marks. I would recommend JavaScript or Java to first time programmers.

Hmm i started with basic on the atari and commedore, after that i got my hands on a 80268, and started gw basic and turbo pascal on that. Darn that was going fast! I made a program to make word search puzzles, it needed 5 mins on my atari, and on the pc i would have 50 allready by that time!
