Spawn suggestion

I would like the ability to set multiple spawns that operate at the same time, to allow for more spread out use of the map. Ugly sentence. Having two spawns at once in conjunction with the gradual wiping method would also remedy the grief/spam fest that occurs after a normal wipe.

And since we're on the spawning topic, is there a way to direct first time connectors to the server to a world similar to demo, instead of having them spawn in main? They could spawn there, signs would be posted about how to rank up, and they would immediately know the criteria for builder. Maybe some vets or Ops can hang out there and help guests figure out how to achieve their promotion down the line. And if a first time connector is only on the server to grief, they wouldn't be able to edit the world, and they would eventually find their way to main (or just leave altogether).

But I definitely think Sanj's idea would be helpful.

spread out griefing isn't really an issue, the whole map gets griefed anyway if you are unlucky

I'll go over the suggestions so far, and add another one:
  • Multiple default spawns per map - not hard to do, technically, but I'm not sure what the command syntax would be. Lots of commands (/addspawn, /resetspawns, /spawns), or a single complicated one (/spawn [add|reset|list]). Also would spawns be named?
  • Another related idea that was brought up a long time before was "landmarks." Points on the map that can be named and easily teleported to.
  • Different spawn for first-time players - can definitely be done.
  • Being able to set your own spawn world/location. E.g. "/setmyspawn" or something. Or maybe going even further and automatically remember everyone's locations when they log out.
  • Different default spawn per-rank. Can also be done pretty easily.

/setspawn1 [name] [rank], /setspawn2 [name] [rank].

Pressing R will take you to spawn1, pressing it again will take you to spawn2, pressing it again will take you to spawn1. Cycling through the available spawns.

/removespawn [name] removes specified spawn.

Is a no no.

More like: keeps /help commands clean as well.

/spawn new [name] <options> (options like rank and/or world)
/spawn del [name]
/spawn mod [name] <options> (with existing name will relocate it or change options)
/spawn list

Hmm...

/setspawn x: X is replaced with a number, set a new spawn in the rotation, if no x is given set the general spawn of the map.
/delspawn x: Delete a spawn, x is the spawn number.
/spawnS: show the list and of all the spawns
/spawninfo <x>: Show the coords and who /setspawn

I don't think we need spawns per-rank >.<, just add a rotation between the spawns.

After some deliberation, I decided to add per-rank spawns, but pass on the multiple spawn idea. So I will add the following functionality:

/wmain @RankName WorldName - sets a rank-specific starting map
/wmain @RankName - shows the rank-specific starting map
/setspawn @RankName - sets a rank-specific spawn on the current map
/spawn @RankName - teleports you to the rank-specific spawn on the current map

We can make builders start on builder worlds now, so we will not have builders building/patrolling on main >.<

On an old server that I was on I saw them use a portal system.
It started of on a map that was not destructable by any rank lower then op.
One had to go to a building in which had colored borders
For example the portal for main would be a doorway with grey border with main written over head. Builder would have a portal linked to the newsest builder world with a light green border. Veteran would have a dark green border with veteran written above.

Am sure making such a spawn map would not be hard, but the idea of going into a waterfilled door that summons people to a map would be the most challenging task.

We are not going to have any sort of spawn restrictions like that. All ranks should be allowed to build on the map they spawn on.

No it's like a grand hall way with main insight of guests with like a "yellow brick" road leading to main. They are in a spawn world for like 5 seconds.

Speaking of portals, I once visited the a server running on McLawl, and met the guy who made it there, Lawlcat I think he was. He was one of the biggest douches I've ever seen online.

Portals worked by teleporting a player somewhere- he made this huge chain of them around the map, and would put random guests in it, just for the hell of it. That thing was painful too, flashing images in front of your face. He also allowed swasticas, and had a big one in front of the spawn. Needless to say, no one was spamming them, so other than the fact that it was completely racist, it was actually kind of good.
