1.9 Dam organization projects

When ever this update actualy comes out could I request an epic dam build I'm obsessed with pistons so I wanna make the biggest dam Evah! Well we could just use Hoover dam as example
And if u want to help just ask me and I'll see what u can build on it thx your time

There are allready some neat projects online of others.

We can do better then this!

Once you found yourself a neat spot on the mountains ask a trustee to have a look at the location.

If you have your basic structure done (the wall that keeps the water in without all the details), we can fill it with water for you.

ps: Maybe we can link a quest to this? (spoiler alert, if we are going to do this )

Quest: Little village below doesnt get water/fish becouse the dam is 'closed' and he has to run up there and first 'fix' all the 'pistons' by switching some switches at some location, and then at the control room he hits the master switch, after that he can step out and hope he got them all.

Reward: Some cooked fish.

Save the fish in the dam, get dead fish as reward...

What sould the dam materials be guys stone iron sand stone just to name a cuple.
And also how to make it regulate how mutch water comes out

i would use smooth stone for the dam itself

for the waterflow you could use pistons that go on and off.

i personaly would make 2x2 holes in the dam for the water to come out,
becouse they are easy to close.

regarding the creeper thing: I was on a server a while back where creepers still explode (cause as much as I hate them, they are creepers after all) but the explosions don't damage blocks - only players. Something to think about.

Sorry for being a little off-topic, but this was the forum where it came up.

Getting back to the topic, is there a way to make water travel for more than 6 blocks horizontally? Cause it'd be pretty epic to open that dam and see a wall of water like they have in the movies

And if you want to build this thing out of obsidian, there's a trick using waterfalls that makes obsidian casting super easy. Just need lots and lots of lava buckets

Regarding the creeper thing respose: Yeah, we had that as well, it all just depends on if the plugin is available to us or not.

I thought it was 8.
If you make it 7, and the 8th one block lower it will continue to flow.

Well iknow were on a temp map right now so I won't start this yet bc 1: I half to find the perfect location 2. I still need some one to world edit water behind the dam just saying 3. I did some trial builds of course they sucked but there trials is all but found the best way to make the water release doors that are seem less so they would look better :3
