Thought I'd make a topic for this since it seems it could warrant it's own space.

I'll start it off with a very quick, new header for the forums. (branding is key)

I'll work on adjusting the header template html and images to make it so it's fluid width. like the content area beneath it and then shoot over the html to the forum gods.

the pants ARE pink... assuming you're wearing any. we'll have to leave that to the imagination for now won't we.

at least until I (possibly) get access to themes and then I can work on some slightly larger headers and an image rotate script to keep them fresh.

for now though I've kept it simple, to the point and a fairly easy swap for the default header.

We should have a brainstorming session about banners with fragmer as well, since our design will potentially affect the way his homepage looks.

Also, I wouldn't stick to the 978px width too zealously - it's a pretty stupid number. For my own poor Netbook with 1024px screen width I'd prefer something along the lines of 900. :3

I also think making the forums a bit narrower so everything doesn't slide apart is a good idea in general.

right now subsilver is fluid so it'll fill the screen. the header background image spans the whole screen while the body has padding.

I just did a fixed width as an example but it could be anything.

doing a fixed width forum isn't hard, just need to go through and change up all the % to absolute values.

in terms of look and feel I'm fine with getting together to discuss with fragmer, whatever is needed, just let me know and we can all jump on mumble.

Yeah you'll want shank in on this. This one's good but I'm not getting the colourful freebuild vibe from it.
