Planet alignment does nothing. It has happened a load in the past with absolutely no effect. Smokeybacon is the fCraft astrophysicist. If you're going to make claims like that, quote some evidence.ConroD wrote:Oh.. There is also the start of a new solar cycle that just happens to fall around 12/21/2012 which is supposedly the most violent in several centuries, and will cause global power outages and the like.
I partially concur with ConroD's statement, as recently NASA has confirmed of a strong possibility of a massive solar flare due to the Sun's current cycle. However, it wasn't stated to be occurring at exactly December 21, 2012 exactly. Also, it is completely unrelated to planetary alignment or w/e BS you thought it inferred.
It is said, from what my prior research has led me, that the sun is currently reaching it's strongest solar maximum in years, and that we are to expect a significant increase in solar activity for the 2011-2013 period, potentially disrupting global communications and power lines. (U.S is especially vulnerable thanks to it's crappy outdated 'National Grid')
Now, whether or not the sun will shoot out electromagnetic storms isn't a question: the real question is, could one, by chance, be headed towards us, and would it be big enough to really do significant damage?
If you want evidence, look up 'Solar Storm' on NASA's website. if you're still not convinced, TOO BAD.
