[FIXED] Blocks acting strange

Post by Nessy »

When manually deleting blocks, especially in pillars, some blocks reappear instantly. Some of them I can sit in one spot while holding the mouse click and the block reappears over and over. It seems like making a pillar will sometimes leave out 5-10 block chuck after completing it, too.

I think this only happens when deleting/adding the block from the top/bottom of its surface.

This happens to me as well.

It also affect draw commands, when you click on a block to mark it, it doesn't register, which can cause a lot of problems,
i.e. filling holes on main, /r air grass doesn't register and the next block I click leads to half of main filled with grass. :sidegrass:

This has been happening to me as well for awhile now. I simply just passed it off as lag.

If anyone finds a reliable way to reproduce this bug, let me know. I haven't been able to get any strange-acting blocks on my test server. We've got a Heisenbug!

I'll try to get you an example when i get home :)

Or just make a 1x1 pillar, stand on it and start deleting it very fast, you should get this "bug".

I'm guessing its a lag. It happens much more frequently on the smp server. ill start deleting a block and itll reappear, which means that the server didnt register my block deletion. That my friends, is a lag. An extremely annoying one at that. Sometimes when smp gets really laggy, i cant do anything because every block i delete reappears.

The block lag on SMP and what's happening on freebuild are two different things, completely unrelated.
The problem you're having with SMP is probably related to your internet connection.
The one on freebuild is a mysteryyyyy.

When I use Wom 1.6, the blocks are just fine. With the new WoM, however, the blocks start to act up. I went to another server (FREEBUILD FOR FUN [BIG MAP]) to see if it was specifically a WoM/server issue. With the new WoM on that server, I couldn't reproduce the bug. On I went to another fcraft server, Team900. There, I got the same bug as the official fcraft server. Switched to 1.6 and there was no bug.

Maybe it's just WoM related.

I tried slightly increasing the maximum allowed clicking distance (relative to player's current position). It was a 12x12x12 area around the player - same as vanilla server, but a little stricter than most custom servers. I increased that to 14x14x14, to account for lag. Whenever the server software gets updated next time, we'll see if that worked.

Lol... and here I was reading this and thinking that I was special for never seeing this in game. I use 1.6.6.

Maybe the new WoM allows placing blocks further away than the original client, and fCraft marks it as hacking (placing block too far away from player position). I'll ask the WoM devs. I still cannot reproduce this with a normal client.

I have noticed that if you hold your spot for a long time and dont move your hand in-game, it does this. if you constantly move the mouse instead of keeping it stationary, you will not have this issue. notice in mastboss's video that he doesnt move the mouse, just constantly clicks. Idk if this is a bug or just lag. :P

This only happens to me if I'm too close to the block I desire to remove.

Happens almost rarely for me now.

I believe the recent WoM update fixed this!
